Avoid: textured/popcorn walls, unpainted brick, fabric-covered surfaces, and freshly-painted walls (wait 4+ weeks for paint to cure). The surface needs to be dust-free and slightly warm — the vinyl bonds better above 60°F / 15°C.

Honestly — it depends on the texture depth. Light "orange peel" texture (very common in US homes) usually works fine with smaller decals and firm pressure during application. Heavy textures (popcorn, stucco, knockdown) don't work — the vinyl can't make full contact with the surface, leading to peeling within days. To check before ordering: press a piece of clear packing tape firmly to your wall. If it sticks flat with no air pockets after 30 seconds, your wall is decal-friendly. If you can see bumps under the tape, the wall is likely too textured.
